Does the Neutrogina Wave cleanser actually work?

If not, what does because I have blackheads which I can squeeze, spots that come to a head and red spots that just stay where they are.
I use Clearasil Ultras Deep Pore Treatment Pads which do work well but they use awful chemicals that make my eyes water and dry out my skin.
Is there anything else similar that I could use?

it works GREAT your skin will be sooo soft
but after about 2 weeks or a little more it stops working and just cleanse.
doesn’t matter if you change pad which you should every use but my friends say so and me 2(personal experience)
but try it all skin is different =]

As you probably know by now, I hate those nasty prescription acne medicines that dermatologists prescribe. I used them for countless years and I never did achieve Clear Skin like they promised. Plus, they did nothing to reduce pimple marks.

Even though I’m a big proponent of using a natural Acne Treatment, I figured I would go ahead and fill you in on some of the latest ways to Clear Acne and get rid of pimples.

The following acne treatments are prescribed by dermatologists either as a single product to be used more commonly as a combination of treatments for acne.

Acne Bacteria Killers

These are things such as gels, or creams that you apply to the surface of your skin. Many of them are used as antibiotics to help reduce the number of acne bacteria on your skin.

Common names include clindamycin, sulfur compounds, and erythromycin. All of these drugs aide to prevent acne. The benefit is that they are applied directly to your skin, which makes them more effective in preventing acne breakouts and reduces the actual amount of the acne product that is needed.

The two major drawbacks to these acne creams are that they are unnatural chemicals that the body will absorb and have to process. Also, the acne bacteria on your skin may develop resistance and make the acne treatment less effective.

Retinoids for Pimples and Acne Scars

Another type of topical acne remedy is the use of retinoids. Retinoids are similar to vitamin A, the anit-wrinkle creams. They work by stopping the oil and dead skin cells that block pores from just that, blocking the pores. Many people who suffer from acne scars like using these products as well. A few of the brand names are Retin A, Tazorac, and Avita.

The big draw back to these again is that they are unnatural chemicals that your body will absorb and process. Also, the Acne Skin on your face will become quite sensitive to sunlight. Not only that, the sunlight also reduces the effectiveness of the product. So if you live in a sunny climate such as the west coast, these products may not be very effective in helping you treat acne and acne scars.

The Old Pimple Treatment Standby

This last Acne Cream I’m going to talk about is an old stand by of the clear skin world that I took way back in the day. It’s call Benzoyl Peroxide and you’ve probably heard of it.

It is similar to other Acne Solutions in that it helps kill the bacteria that cause acne zits. It is often used after washing your face in conjunction with other ways to get rid of zits.

Besides the fact that it can stain your sheets and clothes, it also can cause skin irritation and takes time to start to work.

My Thoughts

To be honest with you, the best solution is one that is natural and works form the inside out. Remember, all the above acne solutions may give your symptom relief, but they fail to cure your acne causes.

When it comes to getting rid of acne, it seems that everyone thinks they’re a Skin Care expert. I can’t think of an area of life where I’ve heard more myths about removing acne and clearing up your skin.

After doing some research and really trying to find the causes of Acne Pimples and pimple marks, I have boiled down the myths that irk me the most. This isn’t your standard rehashed Acne Treatment junk you see on most websites. This is all based on science…read on.

1. Acne is caused by Oily Skin

- Oily skin does not cause those nasty face pimples you keep getting. In fact, it really has nothing to do with acne. What does cause the acne on your face, and your body, is the bacteria on your skin. It is the growth of bacteria that causes your immune system to attack and in turn, causes a whitehead to appear.

2. Dermatologist prescribed acne creams and prescriptions are safe

- All of these miracle pimple remedy drugs that get touted by dermatologists are doing some real damage to your skin and health. Some products could dry out or irritate your skin, increasing the redness of pimples. The pills that are prescribed to kill the acne causing bacteria on your skin actually kill all of the good bacteria in your intestinal tract, which could lead to severe problems down the road.

3. There is no direct relationship between diet and acne breakouts

- When it comes to getting rid of pimples, this myth couldn’t be farther from the truth. But instead of taking this at face value, let’s dig a little deeper. Your immune system is in charge of killing bacteria and viruses. And not just the ones that give you a runny nose, but the ones that give you acne pimples. Now when you eat sugary foods loaded with chemicals and starchy carbs, you suppress your immune system. This in turn reduces your body’s ability to fight the acne bacteria. Thus, leading to more blackheads and whiteheads.

The Bottom Line

Treatment for pimples is simple. Don’t let your skin dry out. Quit taking those nasty dermatologist prescribed acne creams and pills. And finally, stay away from the sugar and refined carbs.  Just these three things may not cure your acne pimples, but they will go along way in helping to get clearer skin.

3. Retin-A. Another brand of topical tretinoin or retinoid, this medication is formulated to keep a balance in the life cycle of skin cells. Retin-A requires a prescription from a dermatologist and is said to cause flushing or skin redness in some cases. The product is reportedly effective in inducing the shedding of dead skin cells to allow a fresher, clearer skin to emerge.

4. Zeno. This Acne Treatment comes in the form of a portable, electric device used by getting the tip in contact with the pimple. According to its manufacturers, Zeno induces a heat shock response in Propionibacterium acnes, the bacteria responsible for the emergence of acne, and forces it to self-destruct. The device is said to take effect in as short as 24 hours.

5. Salicylic Acid. Probably the type of Acne Solution that has the most number of brand names offered in the market. Acne treatment products that contain salicylic acid act as an exfoliant which prevents dead skin cells from building up and creating a home for skin bacteria. These treatments are also said to be effective in unclogging pores. Salicylic acid-based products can come in the form of creams, gels and even astringents. Some dermatologists have warned that skin products with salicylic acid should be used in moderation since they can cause skin dryness and even skin burning.

Acne skin care products probably number in the thousands. They come in various forms and different packages and are marketed in various trade names.
